Raining Fools is the story of a second chance at love. It is the second book in the Madison Creek Bed & Breakfast series. I haven’t read the first book in the series but this works as a standalone novel, though you may appreciate the moments in this book between Ethan and Haley (the hero and heroine of the first book) if you have read the previous book in the series.
Ms. Castle is an author I have never read but I love trying new authors and second chance romances are one of my favorite scenarios (I have a lot of favorite scenarios). Bekka and Stephen, the main characters, had a relationship years ago that ended abruptly—though I won’t spoil the “why” here as it’s revealed early in the story.
I relate to Bekka’s struggle with what she wants to do with her life and career. She’s close to my age and I still struggle with the decisions I made for my job and life and if it’s the right one or not. That struggle forms a large part of Bekka’s narrative and it was easy for me to understand Bekka. She is also struggling against her brother Ethan’s desire to control her life, which I’m sure that any one of us that has younger siblings can understand the push and pull of sibling interaction.
It took me longer to warm up to Stephen. He is written as someone who nominally believes in God but does not consider himself a Christian. He smokes and drinks during the story. I appreciated his character arc as he begins to turn away from sin and lean on God. Stephen’s interactions with his mother are some of the best in the book and elevate Stephen’s character in ways I hadn’t anticipated.
I enjoyed this book while reading it, but the story did not “stick” with me after. It is nicely written and the characters are well-rounded and likable, but there was nothing in it that hit enough emotional notes for me to ruminate on the story and characters once I had finished reading it. I also found the “prologue” with Ethan and Haley quite jarring in tone when compared to Bekka and Stephen’s story.
Because I enjoyed the characters and the writing style, I will more than likely try another book by Ms. Castle. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys small-town contemporary Christian fiction with likable characters who struggle with what God wants for them.
I give this book 3/5 stars.

"Raining Fools” by Jackie Castle is the second book in the (Madison Creek Bed & Breakfast) series. "Raining Fools picks up where "Snow Belle" leaves off. You don't have to read "Snow Belle" first to enjoy " Raining Fools" but I am glad I did because it is Haley's and Ethan's story. While "Raining Fools" is Bekka and Stephen's Story.
“Raining Fools” is a clean love story but it is more than that. I feel that “Raining Fools” is a story about forgiveness and redemption.
I especially liked how Jackie Castle used truth about God and Bible Scriptures to tell Haley and Ethan and Stephen and Bekka and readers ( if you are like me, and use the books you read to impart truth into your life, yes even fiction can do that) how God cares and loves the “little people”.
There is one character in this book that isn’t someone I would want to be friends with but this story reminds us all that everyone wants and deserves to be loved.
This story has no unclean scenes but does deal with some alcohol abuse and a scene with someone putting drugs in a drink. But I think this just makes this story more realistic.
I am hoping to read more about all these characters in the future.
I really enjoyed the time I spent in Madison Creek and I think my fellow readers will too.

This book was different in some ways. I really loved the photography, the art, the filmmaking, and visual effects and the music, not necessarily in that order. All those scenes were very well written. This book focuses mainly on two couples and their relationships with each other and their families. There were lots of ups and downs, people coming from broken backgrounds, solid backgrounds, mixed backgrounds, abuse both physically and from drugs, as well as just plain not having a relationship with God.
I never quite figured out why the title is what it is, but I was happy with the ending and how the relationship resolved, the way the secrets were handled. What remains with me the most, however, is the imagery of when the film was shot, and the music, and the interspersed message of God’s redeeming love.

Raining Fools is book two in Jackie Castle's Madison Creek Bed and Breakfast series. Jackie Castle is a new other for me and I honestly can say that I thoroughly enjoyed Raining Fools. Even though it is the second book in the series, each book can be read as a stand-alone but I am looking forward to purchasing the first book in the series.
Do you believe in second chances? I do and I know we serve a God of second chances. Raining Fools brings us a story of forgiveness, second chances, love, and new beginnings. Bekka is excited to go help her brother with his new studio, fresh out of college, nothing else to do, she packs her bags and heads to Madison Creek. When she arrives, parked in the driveway is a car she recognizes immediately and immediately her heart drops. What was she going to do? How can she begin to let her past come back in her life.
Wonderful story, very well written, definitely perfect for teens, young adults and even us old timers!! I highly recommend Raining Fools for your next read.
