Delphi Saemtliche Werke von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Illustrierte German Edition eBook Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

When I moved to the U.S. I had to leave my library behind, and with it the works of Goethe, Schiller, Heine, and other German authors from classic to contemporary.
What a delightful surprise it was for me to find these free or low-cost e-reader editions on Amazon. I downloaded them right away into my Kindle, since living in small rental units doesn't allow me to keep or build up another library in hard copies.

This edition has some minor glitches (from when it was formatted, I guess) but given the enormous volume of material and data this is understandable. Who cares? I can read the "German Klassikers" again! The index can be accessed easily. It prompts you for a German Dictionary (which I don't need as German is my first Language) but clicking on that pops the dialog box up with "follow link" as default. Clicking in that brings you to the work you want to read. The work itself might have a sub-index to find a certain chapter ("Reinecke Fuchs" which I am reading right now has it). Proceed in the same manner. Since I just started to use this edition I am not familiar with maybe "hidden features" yet. I will keep updating this review, so stay tuned! :-)

Als ich nach Amerika auswanderte musste ich meine Bibliothek zurueck lassen, darunter die Werke Deutscher Klassiker und Autoren. Da ich in Untermiete lebe kann ich mir keine "Papier-bibliothek" mehr leisten. In dem Sinne war es mir eine grosse Freude, die Werke in e-reader Format zu sehr erschwinglichen Preisen oder gar Frei in Amazon zu finden. Nun kann ich wieder die Klassiker der Deutschen Literatur lesen!
Diese elektronische Ausgabe hat zwar ein paar kleinere Fehler die wahrscheinlich von der Umformattierung her kommen. Aber das Material ist -so fern ich es "durchgeblaettert habe"- gut lesbar, und mit der enormen Datenmenge und dem Umfang dieses Materials ist es verzeihlich dass einige Details 'durch gerutscht" sind.

I trust that it's all there - but how do you find the work that you want to read? Without a table of content for each genre and each work this grand collection is practically useless.
It is an excellent consolidation of Wolfgang von Goethe's volumes of writings; a life time mental refresher about the strength and frailness of us human beings.
It was a disappointment to download Goethe's works to the kindle and then find that it forced use of the English dictionary instead of hte German-English dictionary. I have no criticism of the master's works.
It's Goethe. What else is there to say.
This volume of Goethe's Collected Works, in German, is a welcome book to consult, when I wish to read the writing of this great German author. The poems are my favorites. The plays and novels have also garnered my admiration
Rating Goethe is like rating Shakespeare
They are occupying the thrones of their countries' heaven of poets.
Unrateable.
Until that day a new Goethe or Shakespeare appears.

But then again
Who can top Faust or Hamlet?
